Mr. Ed #2
Posted by Sandy Wong on 17 Apr 2003
Here I am again. Mr Ed is back to finish his run down on the roster and write about other miscellaneous things when they come to me as I write this.
I see during my absence that a new columnist has emerged going by the name "The Ranter". Seems to me that they PCW are letting any Tom, Dick and Harry write columns nowadays, "Dick" being the correct word in this instance.
And before I truly start my column I think I'll respond to some of the comments made by my new friend, The Ranter:
"The column who bashes nobody EXCEPT Dante Jackson?"
So Mr Ranter, you obviously never finished reading my first column, try reading my bashings of Akiyama, DarkStar and Mark Makonie as well as the above mentioned, Dante Jackson. So get your facts straight Mr Ranter and notice that I offer some constructive criticism in what I say (some being the key word) whereas you offer nothing more than words that are meaningless.
Yeah, Enigma got off lightly, and I do mean LIGHTLY, but you steadily have to repeat yourselves - Enigma, Enigma - and you get no answer.
You're right he did get off lightly, but I think a simple booking would have helped motivate the guy to rp, and in case you didn't notice I made my opinion on him clear- I think Flaymin Aymin is handling the guy.
So, to some you up Mr Ranter, your column offers nothing but dribble and is a waste on this site, it shames great columnists like The Hound, and you are nothing more than Shoot King version 2, but you can't even get that right either, at least he did shoot on people. And in response to your entire column, I ranted more in the last ten lines of mine than you did in your entirety.
Someone please find me a worthy columnist, not some schmuck like The Ranter.
But enough about that, lets finish my summary of the current roster (N-Z)
Nerezza- Nerezza is a guy with lots of talent, but just needs an explosive singles feud to reach the Main Event. However, the gimmick I really do not like. I heavily stress the factor of having realism in efeds and his gimmick is just not real at all. Hell, will a certain vampire slayer be coming after him soon? Nonetheless, he has the talent to get far in PCW.
The Overweighter- Why he was hired I will certainly never know. If he was just brought in for comic relief then lets just can him already, I don't like his rps and I don't like his character and just writing a summary on him is a waste of my time.
Cozette dú Pres- Is she still around? I know she arrived here and since then has produced nada. I heard she was on a break, but seriously who goes on a break in their first month in PCW? Whatever the answer is, if she's not back soon she should just be released.
Venneman Pendragon- Now here is a character. He is the complete character in PCW right now. In the past the complete characters were Doug Troy, Tyler Nelson and Big Alan Steele, so to be the complete character is an honor I'm sure, and all three that I named were PCW Champions, so it's only a matter of time before Ven Pen gets there.
The Pharaoh- The Pharaoh I like. Pharaoh should have been PCW Champion two times by now, yet he's still left dreaming of wearing that title. If anyone deserves the PCW Title right now it's him, so if he just keeps his head down and continues to produce his great rps and in cards he will surely get there in the end.
Jackson Rust- Wasted his time here before so it's down to him to decide whether he wants to make it here or not. I'll freely admit that I haven't read a single promo by him, so I really cannot judge him fairly, but going by his in card work from when he was last here I'm not too impressed. So if he just knuckles down to try and master the art of in card writing then maybe he can make it here.
El Romantico- I wasn't much of a fan of Juan Borro and I'm not really a fan of El Romantico. Sure he's a good rper and good at in cards but I cannot stand the characters he has chosen to handle here in PCW. Maybe I'm too critical, but if I don't like the gimmick, it doesn't matter how good of a writer he is I still won't be a fan. So Juan, unless you start anew once more with a decent character I'm afraid I can't even offer you any advice.
Rent A Hero- A waste of roster space. He's good when he's actually around- strong character, funny, a good writer but more often than not he's not around, and when does he choose to not be around? When he's in a top feud, when he's finally reaching the pinnacle of PCW and when his fan base is as strong as ever. But he just goes, he's proven himself far too unreliable in my eyes and should not even get to be PCW Champion and that is a shame because of his obvious writing talent. He goes AWOL every time and should be released just to give him a wake up call that he's not indispensable.
Adam Stryker- A newbie that I have not had the chance to follow, so I can't comment on anything. All I can offer is advice, and that advice is for him to work hard, get himself into a good feud and try get your character over.
Semore Smoke- Again languishing in lower card hell like his last spell in PCW. He's a talented writer, but I just don't like the character, he's too bland and one dimensional to really go anywhere. I really hope he sorts out his character, because otherwise I'll be forced to just overlook anything he writes.
Skitzo- Ugh! Here is a character that has the potential to be good but everything he writes is far too stupid and annoying to even enjoy. I wouldn't even know if he's a good writer because I don't even take the time to read anything of his any longer. Until he stops being so utterly stupid and living in a fantasy world I refuse to even acknowledge that he passed Dan Hollywood's Extreme Title record.
Chris Storm- I won't mince my words here at all, I hate this character. Overly "lovey dovey" and overly annoying in everything he seems to write. The character is annoying and boring and to me that does not equal a winning combination. And if he ever becomes PCW Champion I will officially name it a worse reign than that of Corey Williams.
AJ Trinidad- I guess you can say I haven't given him a chance. I haven't read any of his rps and his segs with Semore Smoke are less than impressive. I won't be too critical considering I haven't given him a fair chance, but I will try to read some of his promos soon.
Dorn Tracer- WOW! I can see Dorn being PCW Champion within six months at the rate he has been working. He has impressed me with his promos and his segments are great too. Hopefully he won't slow down and will continue to move up the card, working angles as great as his "Shooting Star" Title one. All I can say is WOW. Keep up the good work.
Totally Tubular Tommy- A good writer, but by far not the best PCW has to offer. I like the character and I like his writing but it always feels as if something is missing and I just can't put my finger on it. I feel he was given a Title run too soon and that someone more established should have taken the strap, such as The Pharaoh, but the decision was made and hopefully now Tommy can take the ball and run with it to a great Title reign.
Teresa Tomas- A very good and entertaining writer, and proof that short rps can be just as good as the long ones. My only beef with her is, is that her character needs more depth when in segments, because in segments I can only see a weak character so she really needs to work on that. She had a great TV Title reign, so now just needs to work towards the future and I can see her as a future PCW Champion.
Violence Jack- Maybe he was pushed too fast, I don't know, but he's showing that he's capable of staying up there. I've always liked his character but have felt that he needs that little something more to solidify him as a top contender, and right now he still hasn't got "it". But if he keeps on working hard I'm sure he can find "it" and go on to be PCW Champion.
Tessa Windsor- Ugh, just read what I wrote about Chris Storm, I really don't want to repeat myself.
Tim Walden- If he chose to rp more often he could be Continental Champion, but seeing as how he doesn't rp or work in cards he should go to being in the Extreme Title division. I do like his rps, but feel he needs to contribute more to the cards and try to get his character truly over.
Brianna Washington- I like the rps, but as for in card work, it could really be a lot better. Her character is solid, but she needs to get it over more, she needs to try harder to get herself up the card where she belongs, not a spot where she has to work with Skitzo.
Young Tiger- Decent roleplays, but again lacks the fundamentals of in card work and he really needs to work more on his character, it is less than stable. If he just focused on making his character solid and finding a feud he would find in cards easy, but because he doesn't he is simply wasting a roster spot that many people are dieing for.
Well that's my rundown over, and remember in my first column I did say I'd be harsh. So now I'd to look at some other things involving PCW.
1. There is a lack of people in PCW trying to work angles. Now I know that this is an rp fed, but you have to be able to work angles to get completely over. You can't just expect to rp and be instantly over, you have to put in the work of a feud to get over. Just look at some of last years breakthrough stars, Syko and Venneman Pendragon, they worked a feud when they were lower card and both have been Continental Champion in the last year. El Diablo, started 2002 off as Rising Star Champion and after a feud with Flaymin Aymin, ended the year feuding for the PCW Title. This guys is proof that putting the work into a decent feud and angle will get you far. So just look to get yourself a decent feud and you could find yourself the next star of PCW.
That's it for now, folks, join me in my next column where I will take a look at the PCW Titles and its contenders and where I will also give a new rundown of the roster, this time focusing on their star potential and how far they are likely to get in PCW at their current rate.
I am Mr Ed, and you have heard it all Straight From The Horses Mouth.
